HOST OR CO-HOST SEPT 20TH YOUTH CLIMATE RALLY!
Echoing the call from 16-year-old Swedish climate leader Greta Thunberg, S.O.S. WaveMakers are asking adults, organizations and businesses throughout our region to stand in solidarity with the Global Climate Strike Movement by helping to plan and attending regional youth-led climate rallies on Sept 20th.
To ensure students all across our region have opportunities to engage in the climate action movement, we’re growing a network to help each Global Climate Strike to be bigger and more powerful than the last.
We must stand together to influence environmental policy and the 2020 elections in time to demand the changes we all need.
How the Parkland students pulled off a massive national protest in only 5 weeks
How does the March 2018 March for Our Lives relate to today's Global Climate Strike Movement and what can we learn from this?
As long as the NRA, the Fossil Fuel Industry, and other powerful lobbying groups own our government our children’s futures will remain in jeopardy. The youth-led Global Climate Strike Movement was inspired by the March 2018 March for Our Lives to end gun violence. Four days after the school shooting in Parkland, FL, student survivors began channeling their fear and grief into the #NeverAgain movement and planning the March 24th March for Our Lives aimed at stricter background checks for gun buyers. The massive national protest they pulled off was made possible with a ton of support from influencers and partner organizations.
With your help, we can build March for Our Lives-level support to energize the Global Climate Strike Movement in our region! Together we can give students all across our region opportunities to speak on September 20th and grow a network to ensure each Global Climate Strike is bigger and more powerful than the last.

It is time for all of us to unleash mass resistance … if we [demand change] in numbers we have a chance.” READ MORE
