Save Our Shores is proud to announce that The Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County (CSFCC) has selected us to be a beneficiary of their ‘Comm unity Grants’ program. We were graciously granted $10,000 to support our work in reducing barriers to outdoor education for youth. With these funds, SOS can improve and continue our educational programs that bring youth outdoors to learn directly from their environments. Bridging this gap with hands-on learning is crucial to instilling healthy eco-identities within our youth that reflect a personal relationship with their environment.
“This grant from The Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County is vital for us to carry out our educational programs during a time when outdoor access and hands-on learning experiences for youth is more important than ever.” -Katie Thompson, SOS Executive Director
Save Our Shores’ education programs are grade-level specific and are designed to fit seamlessly into a teacher’s academic year. They’re designed to support our goals of maintaining clean, healthy shores and a thriving Monterey Bay by ensuring that future generations will understand their role in environmental stewardship through immersive lessons.
The 2025 Community Grants cycle awarded $2 million to 100 local nonprofits. Annual grants are made possible thanks to the generosity and foresight of dozens of families who entrusted the Community Foundation with their charitable visions.
