9:00 am - 11:00 am
Join us on the 4th of July at Sunny Cove Beach from 9-11am to prevent pollution from entering our beautiful Bay!
Holidays are high traffic time for our local beaches! Save Our Shores will spend 2 hours talking with beach visitors and handing out trash bags. Our message to visitors will encourage them to enjoy our beautiful coast but also remind them to carry off the beach everything that they carried onto the beach including trash, sand toys, coolers, blankets, chairs, clothing, and footwear, etc. We will also remind them to separate trash from recyclables, ie. plastic bottles with caps on, glass bottles, and aluminum cans, as well as unsoiled paper bags and ensure they know where the trash and recyclable receptacles are located.
Please meet us at the end of Johan’s Beach Drive at the main entrance to the beach.
We recommend that all volunteers dress in layers, wear sun protection, and bring a filled reusable water bottle. Save Our Shores encourages volunteers to avoid single-use plastics at our cleanups. Learn more about our current campaigns to reduce plastic pollution.
Volunteers under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by an adult. Closed-toed shoes are required at all Save Our Shores cleanups.
There are restrooms available, but there are no drinking fountains on site. Parking is limited, so please plan accordingly. Please note that this location is not handicap accessible; there is a steep trail to the beach.
No RSVPs are necessary, but you can print and complete our waiver beforehand to save time: saveourshores.org/waiver. [Be sure to bring your signed copy (1 per volunteer) to the event.]
