Exxpedition Leg 2 – Our Experience

Local marine biologist Dr. Rikki Eriksen joined an all-female eXXpedition to raise awareness about plastic pollution. Exxpedition is sailing over the next 2 years on 30 different voyages around the world to research and share their experiences with the public. This voyage brings together 300 women scientists, artists, educators, and media experts to identify ways to empower local communities, shift consumer choices, ignite a social media and awareness campaign, and raise the alarm about the enormous long-term health impacts plastic has on our bodies. Rikki will share stories aboutdodging late season hurricanes, being followed by a minke whale, sifting through the microplastics collected at sea, and the trials and tribulations of sailing over 2200 nautical miles with a team of women.
