Join Save Our Shores for a cleanup at Garrapata State Beach!

Please meet us in the dirt pull out on the south-bound side of Hwy 1, approximately 16 mi south of Rio Rd. There is a bus stop nearby as well as designated parking for Garrapata State Beach.

Note: We are experiencing king tides and high surf advisories in the Monterey Bay area this weekend. While this offers a unique opportunity to witness and document some of the highest tides of the year, we also advise that beach goers and cleanup attendees to please use caution when near the water’s edge.

We recommend that all volunteers dress in layers, wear sun protection, and bring a filled reusable water bottle. Save Our Shores encourages volunteers to avoid single-use plastics at our cleanups. Learn more about our current campaigns to reduce plastic pollution.

Volunteers under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by an adult. Closed-toed shoes are required at all Save Our Shores cleanups.

There are no restrooms or drinking fountains on site. Parking may be limited, so please plan accordingly. Please note that this location is not handicap accessible; there is a steep trail to the beach.

No RSVPs are necessary, but you can print and complete our waiver beforehand to save time. Be sure to bring your signed copy (1 per volunteer) to the event.

If you have additional questions, please contact alejandro@saveourshores.org.

This event held in partnership with the Community Foundation of Monterey County.
