Volunteer for Earth Day!

Thank you to the over 555 volunteers who cleaned up the earth for Earth Day 2012!

On Saturday, April 21st, a volunteer force to be reckoned with came together to prevent over 850 pounds of pollution from entering the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, littering our communities, and harming marine life.
Thank you to our volunteers and Supporters for making this possible! Hundreds of volunteers participated at three beach cleanups and four San Lorenzo River cleanups, which included three Adopt-a-Levee cleanups. With at least fifteen different school, civic, religious, and business groups participating, April 21 marked the single-largest Earth Day cleanup effort to hit Monterey Bay.

Highlights from Earth Day 2011:
Thank you to the 300 volunteers who took action for Earth Day
in Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Half Moon Bay.
Last year,over2,400 pounds of pollution were removed from just two Earth Day cleanup sites with the help of nearly 200 community volunteers.
And can you believe over 2,700 cigarette butts were found during our Cowell/Main Beach Earth Day cleanup in two hours alone? Another 800 were removed at the San Lorenzo cleanup. Volunteers at both sites combined also prevented 400 plastic bags from entering our Sanctuary that day.
