Interested in Protecting the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary?
Become a Sanctuary Steward with Save Our Shores!
Our Sanctuary Steward Program empowers you to become local leaders in ocean conservation through direct participation in Save Our Shores’ three initiatives: Pollution Prevention, Clean Boating, and Ocean Health Awareness. Stewards receive a high quality training that includes both educational lectures and preparation for becoming event leaders, ocean advocates, and community educators with Save Our Shores.
Training topics range from the history of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, best practices in coastal pollution prevention, to becoming involved in leading ocean advocacy events.

Join us at our office from 5:30-9pm for part one of two to learn everything you need to know to be a part of the Save Our Shores Team! We are located in the Santa Cruz Harbor right across from “R” Dock.
Our Crash Course is a two day training. Thursday night we will go over general logistics, get to know one another and talk about what it means to be a Sanctuary Steward. After the in-house training, we require all participants to go to our public cleanup the following Saturday to see what it’s like to lead a beach cleanup. It’s a quick crash course, but a great leap into becoming an integral part of Save Our Shores!
As always, there’s free food and beverages!
